Tonight, the officials at the Belize Sugar Industry are trying to reconcile a large amount of stolen raw sugar, which is estimated to be valued at around $125,000 dollars.

We contacted the, BSI's Marketing Officer, Damian Gough, who would not comment freely to us, but he did confirm that that they have reported to police that approximately 125 tonnes of raw sugar were stolen from different barges docked at Drowned Caye over a period of 2 to 3 months.

He said that they are in the process of reconciling so this is just a rough estimate. Police have some progress in investigating this report, and they went searching a residence located at #9783 Riverside Street Extention.

They found a half sack of raw sugar, and another empty sugar sack. As a result, they detained three men pending investigation.
