So, while he Free zone may be ready before Christmas, here in Belize, will there be beans available on the domestic market for your Christmas dinner?
On our last visit to Michael Finnegan Market, we brought you several issues that vendors and market goers were facing.
One, the price of common vegetables has skyrocketed since the incessant rains had caused many farms to flood - ruining most of the crop.
Two, cabbage and carrots were hard to find since there were not enough farmers supplying the vendors - causing the vendors to request that licenses be issued to allow the importation of veggies.
Three, there were no red kidney beans in the market and consumers were concerned that there would be none on their dinner plates at Christmas.
Today, we got a chance to hear from the Agriculture Minister on these concerns.
