Belize Cruise future is presently in limbo with cruise tourism worldwide on a long pause due to COVID, but Government has still not decided which cruise facility will be Belize's Port of the Future: will it be the Waterloo group at the Port of Belize? Will it be Port Coral out at Stake Bank, or will it be Magical Belize, along the Sibun River?
Well, Port Coral Stake Bank is the furthest ahead and is moving ahead with two large docking piers which will allow cruise ships to pull right up. Crew and equipment from Panamanian contractors, Inter-Coastal Marine Inc, arrived in Belizean waters this week. The completion of the docks is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.
A release from Stake Bank Enterprise Limited says, quote, "the Cruise Tourism Industry in Belize is projected to commence with a huge influx of ship calls to Belize. This definitely will bring back thousands of jobs immediately, which will drive downwards the unemployment of the country."
Stake Bank Enterprise says its is also finalizing its engineering plans for the construction of the causeway that will connect Belize City to the island via North Drowned. The causeway will be a fully two lanes vehicular elevated bridge.
