And while Mortis deflected those criticisms - we heard much the same when we went to cover an industrial fire - which happened on Saturday morning at mile 13 on the George Price Highway.

Tu'Kan Manufacturers - which is a company that makes styrofoam plates - lost all its structures after a piece of equipment caught on fire on Saturday. Daniel Ortiz went through the rubble today to learn more:

The management and staff of the Tu'Kan Manufactures Limited spent most of today inspecting the destruction that a weekend fire had caused to their entire foam factory.

The blaze destroyed a vast majority of their equipment and assets, which had an estimated total value of 5 million dollars.

The foam factory, which specialized in the production of foam plates, caught on fire at about 11 a.m. on Saturday, and it burnt for several hours until 2 of their major buildings and the contents were consumed.

The fire destroyed the brick walls and even caused the roof to completely collapse in on one of the buildings.

The on-duty employees think that it was caused by a piece of equipment which overheated.

Joshua Santos - Manager, Tu'Kan Manufactures Ltd.
"The fire started from the recycling machine and it basically started from maybe a spark from a wire and particles of foam was around it and so from there it spread."

Reporter
"Which building?"

Joshua Santos
"From this side and the particles was there and it just catch up and it gave it more flames to burn it down."

Reporter
"It was very quickly you would say that the fire got out of control?"

Joshua Santos
"From the beginning it escalated to 10 feet about 10-15 minutes and it just spread. It basically started around the motors. That is the only thing that carry current and could give a spark."

Once again, the victims of this fire are complaining about the response time of the Fire Department, and their logistical delays.

Personnel who were on-site say that the department kept having to send for backup trucks and equipment, and it took many hours for a sustained firefighting effort to be established.

By that time, the highly flammable contents inside the foam factory caught on fire, which spread it between the buildings.

There is the suggestion that this building could have been saved if the first responders didn't have issues.

Joshua Santos
"I have always heard on news about complaints about the fire department that they move slow and doesn't respond on time. I've had experience that day that the fire started at 10:40, and when they came, all kinds of mechanical problems, all kinds of issues, so they basically started after 12."

Reporter
"And by that time the fire was already out of control."

Joshua Santos
"Three quarters of the building was already on fire. They could have saved a part of it, but unfortunately, it didn't happen."

Mortis said he will answer questions about this fire tomorrow.
