The Haulover Bridge will be getting a modern new look and construction begins this month. The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing is informing the public that the contractor for the replacement project, M&M Engineering Consultants, will be constructing two permanent mid-river foundation piers in the Belize River, just downstream of the existing bridge. As such, multiple heavy lifting barges will be used as platforms for heavy equipment and will be placed in the river on January 15th. "No Wake" signs will therefore be erected to caution boaters to go slow when approaching the Haulover Bridge from both sides.
