Last night we told you bout the mandatory 18 US dollar per had travel insurance that will go into effect for all visitors arriving in Belize through the airports or land borders.

The BTB is behind it - and the BTIA says it supports, but tonight the Belize Hotel associate says it's not so sure. It wrote to its members today saying that it voted aghast the mandatory insurance in November because it will, quote, "make our destination become a more expensive and less attractive destination; and second, quote, "a time when insurance is so easily attainable and widely available, it is unnecessary to mandate a specific company that will provide the insurance for visitors to Belize."

Well that was November, and today the BHA is saying it still isn't convinced because there isn't enough evidence to support the reasons given and there are unanswered questions about how it will be administered. They add, quote, "BHA remains concerned about the impact it will have on our industry as we continue to increase the cost of vacationing in Belize."
