And, as a part of that leadership, Bernard committs to greater transparency. There has been a lot of public speculation about the equitable issuance of contracts under the Ministry of Health. And there are also reports that the budget for new contracts is blown - and that supplementary funds will soon have to be sought.
Bernard stated his commitment to transparency:
Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness
"I can just tell you that I am placed in this ministry to do right. I am placed in this ministry to ensure that there is fairness, there is equity in terms of the distribution of awarding of contracts. There are processes that follows in awarding of these contracts and so we are going to make sure that those process are followed and the people will be aware. We are going to ensure that there is accountability and transparency in the work we do and the delivery of service that we offer to the people."
