Easter is fast approaching but before you pack that beach tote and head off to the islands there's bad news to take in about the water taxis that will get you there.
That's because there's been a price hike of between five to 11 dollars depending on your destination and company of choice.
It's a subject that we tried to investigate this morning at both San Pedro Water Taxi and Ocean Ferry but received no comment from either manager.
Still, we've looked at the old and new prices and tonight we can tell you that if you're planning on riding the San Pedro Belize water taxi to your easter getaway, there's been a $5 price hike on both trips. That means that a round trip to Caye Caulker which once cost $42.00 now costs $47.00 and a roundtrip to San Pedro which used to cost $62.00 now costs $67.00.
And over at Ocean Ferry, while the overall prices are certainly lower, the price hikes were higher. What used to be a $45.00 ride to San Pedro is now $52.00, meaning it's gone up by $7.00. The shorter trip to Caye Caulker which was previously $31.00 has gone up to $42.00, for a whopping $11.00 price hike.
