Last week on 7News, we told you about Belize city's dual systems for its parking metres. It's an inconvenience to drivers that Mayor Bernard Wagner last week chalked up to the city's effort at transparency.

But after some digging, we posed the question of whether one of those companies, parking solutions, received a public contract due to the connections of its technical consultant Aaron Briceno - who is also the Prime Minister's cousin.

Well, we got a call from Briceno shortly after that story aired where he clarified that he has never been an owner of the company, merely a hired gun brought on to make sure that technically speaking the machines were up to par. He also promised to provide us with a statement.

That statement came this morning and in its opening lines promises to quote: "Clarify and misinformation & aspersions that may have been cast on this pilot program for Albert street." End quote.

It then goes on to clarify that Ivar Medina is the sole proprietor of both Parking Solutions and Medina's Material, that Medina's Construction Co. Ltd. does not have any ownership interest in Parking Solutions, and that all investment for the pilot program on Albert Street has been incurred solely by Parking Solutions.

The Press release is signed by the owner, Ivar Medina.
