Last week, we told you how the Supreme Court revoked the bail which was granted to Hubert Baptist. That's because he was allegedly violating the terms of that bail. Well tonight, his brother, Brandon, and the Grinage Brothers: John and Sheldon are also behind bars for the same reason.
All 3 men appeared before Justice Suzan Lamb today. The Crown Counsel representing the DPP's Office submitted that they were breaking the conditions of their bail. They allegedly stopped complying with the court's order to report to the Mahogany police station 3 times a week. Additionally, the crown counsel also submitted that John Grinage violated an additional term of his bail. He was supposed to be abiding by a curfew, but a police officer alleged that he spotted Grinage near a restaurant on North Front Street during his curfew hours.
In their defense, attorney Liesja Barrow told the court that the situation could easily be fixed. She submitted that the reason they weren't signing in at the Mahogany Street Police Station is that many of their enemies from rival gangs also regularly sign in at this same station. They were attempting to avoid any confrontation that could cause a flare-up where rival gang members meet up in the same area. She asked the court to order that they sign in at the Raccoon Street Police Station instead.
But the presiding judge disagreed and found that all 3 defendants were in violation of their bail terms. She then ordered that their bail be revoked and that they be remanded into custody.
