In the past few days - a document has been making the rounds; it's named Department of Transport Adjusted Fares. The Belize Bus Association is very displeased that it is making the rounds - because they say it's outdated and misleading.
I spoke with Ewart Metzgen, the secretary of the Belize Bus Association an hour ago:
Ewert Metzgen, Secretary, BBA
"What was release to the media early on in the week was an internal memo in the department of transport. It was not to be released to the public, because it's something that is being worked on between the department of transport and the Belize Bus Association. Somebody within the department released that and one thing to take away from that - if you look at the SI that was shown along with it is an SI that was signed in 2017 by the former minister of transport Edmund Castro, so that there in itself should show that something was wrong there. We are in talks with the department right now. As a matter of fact, we have a meeting schedule for either tomorrow or on Tuesday to finish working on the price list. Its a tedious job, because it's something that we have to do for the whole country, so whoever release that price list is just up to mischief, because the list is not completed, we are still talking with the department and still trying to get that list completed."
