But if you thought that Vulcan would wait two years before deciding to buy the property at White Ridge Farms, you'd be very wrong.
On Saturday when we asked The company's Vice President of governmental affairs if the mining permits for the proposed project were a condition of purchase. He surprised us by confirming Vulcan's commitment to purchase.
Cherisse Halsall:
"If you don't get that permit obviously the purchase of White Ridge Farms would not go through, correct?"
Jimmy Fleming, Vice President, Governmental Affairs and Community Relations, VULCAN
"Actually we are committed to the purchase of White Ridge Farms. The purchase will take place before those permits are granted."
Cherisse Halsall:
"What happens if the permits aren't granted thereafter?"
Jimmy Fleming, Vice President, Governmental Affairs and Community Relations, VULCAN
"Well I mean i'm paid to think positivly and so we'll take that question after we find out what the result is. It's an extensive progress it's something we do in a lot of our locations, you know at some point it begins to cost. you more to continue to tie that property up just to go ahead and purchase, so that's. what we will be doing."
Earlier you heard a villager of Gales Point ask, why them, why their village? Well, Jimmy Fleming in a comment today told 7 News that Vulcan Materials looked at several sites but in the end, the determining factor when choosing White Ridge was the quality of the material, it's proximity to the water, and location's proximity to their U.S. market.
