Last week at DIGI park we heard the complaints from Park Vendors who say that the council's Pilot parking meter project is costing them their livelihoods. Those issues stemmed not just from having to pay to park themselves, but the price of parking driving away customers.
Well, tonight those vendors have an answer from Mayor Bernard Wagner. In a press release from the council - one that strikes a very different tone from last week's release, he and his councillors say they've heard the complaints and to prove it they've made some important changes to the parking practices at the park.
First, they're providing 9 parking spaces for the nine vendors currently renting booths within the park.
Second, pick-up and drop-off with a 10 minute grace period can now be done on the Ramada Belize City Princess side.
Finally, The council is working to encourage the general public to utilise parking services by discounting the present $1.50 per half-hour price to $1.00 per half-hour.
