Tonight the PUP is calling for the resignation of one of its own town councillors after he was detained on an allegation of domestic abuse.
43 year old Miriam Coleman alleges that 39 year old town councillor Moses Cal punched her several times in her face and side of her head causing her left ear to split open. A doctor classified her injuries as "wounding", and she requested court action. He has been detained pending charges.
And, his own party, the PUP is not taking a wait and see approach. They issued an extraordinary release today saying, quote, "After carefully examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Party sees no other alternative but to call for the immediate resignation of the Councillor….the PUP has zero tolerance to all forms of domestic violence!" End quote.
