And while Mortis warned against cutting corners that way, Fires have many causes, some of them accidental while others are deliberate.
And this morning at around 11:00 when yet another home caught fire, the person who may have started it is a homeless great-uncle who sometimes sleeps beneath the home.
While it was contained, that fire caused enough damage to drive Judith Parham and her 7 children from their home, forcing them to find shelter with relatives. Here's what she told 7News off camera to our team.
Kenneth Mortis, Station Supervisor
"Curassow street, we concluded that the fire was, I don't want to say intentionally set but it was the result of the negligent use of an open flame by, the uncle of the lady that lives at that building and fortunately the fire was contained in a rather early stage before serious damage could have been done to that structure."
"Again, where the police department lies in terms of pressing charges against this individual then that leads to a criminal matter."

"These are fires that could have been a whole lot worse, we could have still been out here today, but the neighbors and I must always say kudos to them. They played another crucial role, the fire was detected in it's early stage and it's a collaborative effort. Everybody, they operate with the bucket brigade and when we arrived on the scene as close as we were it was only a matter of throwing a couple 100 gallons of water and the fire was extinguished."
