100% Increase In One Airport Fee For Visitors

Air travel will get that much more expensive for foreign visitors to Belize on August first of this year. Government passed a new SI to increase one airport fee by 100%. It's called the "BELIZE AIRPORTS AUTHORITY AIRPORT DEVELOPMENT AND PASSENGER SERVICE FEES. That fee used to be 18 dollars, but this now pushed it to 36 dollars. Visitors to Belize will now pay an estimated 147 Belize dollars in fees when leaving the country.

In March, Cabinet announced that there is a new $264-million master plan for the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA), and quote, "To finance the new investments, Cabinet approved adjustments to the non-Belizean airport development fee."
