Who has the fastest fixed and mobile internet speeds in Belize? OOKLA speediest conducts quarterly surveys, and when BTL placed third in fixed broadband speeds in September, their CEO told us it was a server issue. Here's what he said at the time:
Ivan Tesucum, CEO, Digi
"One of the things that we had was that one of the Ookla servers was not connected for us. So then it wasn't measuring us. So I think if you want three months, six months when you get the speed test, then you will see where we're at."
"But we weren't connected at that point in time for one reason or the other. But now we're back online with Ookla. So that's why you were seeing more speed tests from them."

"Okay, because they also ranked the Digi as the third fastest speed behind Nexgen and Southern cable. This account is for that as well?"
Ivan Tesucum, CEO, Digi
"Correct, exactly. Exactly."
Wrong! Because in the latest quarterly survey, BTL has moved up to second, but remains behind NEXGEN, which has again been named as the fastest broadband service provider in Belize. BTL also registered with the highest system latency. Centaur had the lowest system latency.
In mobile date speeds, BTL was first, with speeds significantly faster than SMART.
