The Caribbean Development Bank has approved a grant for over $5 million US dollars to be used for the implementation of a Basic Needs Trust Fund programme in Belize. The grant was approved by the CDB Board of Directors during its 310th Meeting held on June 9, 2025. According to a press release from the government, the money will be used to reduce poverty and improve the living conditions of residents in low-income and vulnerable communities across the country. This programme seeks to improve water and sanitation systems, livelihood enhancement and ensure communities have access to quality education and training. It will be executed by the Belize Social Investment Fund.
