Criminally Implicated Mexican Magnate Listed As "Spearheading" Port Of Dangriga Project
The Prime Minister's office just about blew a gasket when we recently reported - factually - that the Prime Minister met with disgraced Mexican magnate Raul Rocha in October of 2024. The PM's office says they discussed "opportunities for trade and investment."
One investment we do know that Rocha has put himself at the head of in Belize is the Port of Dagnriga, a project which has not gotten off the ground yet.
Based on the website information - the investment is being led by Rocha's Legacy Group. A release dated May of 2025 says "The private consortium leading the Dangriga Port Project is proud to announce the formal engagement of Legacy Holding, a Mexico-based investment and development group, to spearhead the conceptual and technical oversight of the new state-of-the-art port facility in Dangriga." Rocha is pictured standing alone in a link from the website.
According to international news reports, Rocha who co-owns the Miss Universe Pageant franchise is under investigation by the Speciali Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime in Mexico and is currently wanted for his involvement in a fuel, weapons, and drug smuggling ring originating in Guatemala that, it is alleged, connects him to multiple cartels.
