And so while Belizeans will be able to take advantage of discounted prices at the Free Zone.
However, beyond the anticipated bargains, there's always the concern of security - after all one of the leading figures in the zone was known to drive a bullett proof vehicle inside the zone.
And last eek we show you the implementation of police ATV patrols throughout the area. This increased security can only make one wonder, if the zone is indeed as safe as they say it is, what has driven the sudden urgency and why now? We asked the area rep for Corozal Southeast:

"I think as you know noh there's increase in economic activity on the Belizean side, on the Mexican Side and we always have to keep our security apparatus up to speed. I mean, I know that there's always the negative connotations there but it's not necessarily out of reaction to that it's that we just we just got to stay ahead, actually I wish we could get some more investment up there to improve the security apparatus up there."

"And we know that on Tuesday it will be open to Belizeans, can we anticipate that everything will be going smoothly there in terms of to ensure safety on both ends?"

"Yes, uhm we have been assured that all the different departments cause it's not just security wise remember we have the customs, we have the immigration, you have the freezone authorities, everyone is working together to be able to have a smooth operation on the day for Belizeans to go and be able to shop in the freezone."
