And after public exposure put a brakes on the whole deal - BTL's management today sent out a staff bulletin making it clear that they're now taking it slow with the proposed acquisition. It says, quote, "As Belize's National Telecom, BTL remains committed to consultation to ensure that any decision taken reflects the best long-term outcomes for customers, businesses, employees, and the country as a whole."

They met today with the Leader of the Opposition, and tomorrow there will be a company-wide employee Town Hall, quote, "providing all employees the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback directly."

And while there is a board meeting tomorrow, the vote for acquisition is not on the agenda - and the staff memo says, quote, "BTL is currently in the consultation phase. A decision will be made by the Board after this process is completed."
