As we told you last night, the PUP had a National Party Council meeting on Sunday where a resolution was adopted endorsing the pause in negotiations for BTL to acquire Speednet.
The resolution seems to happily overlook the Prime Minister and his family's centrality in those discussions - and even goes as far as to say, quote, "competition, innovation, and consumer protection are the cornerstones of a healthy telecommunications sector."
But, it also adds, quote, "any consolidation must demonstrably serve the Belizean people, not merely the commercial interests of shareholders."
And that's where Jules Vasquez picks up the story tonight - looking at the shift from the paramountcy of fiduciary duty - to what the people want:
We note that for over a month, the Social Security Directors who sit on the BTL board have been under pressure to act in the fiduciary interest of BTL.
