And the Belize Bus Association wants to know what will be the standards for buses in the future. Jones says that as long as they can maintain the standard required to operate as a bus line, there should be no issues in continuing to compete and keep their runs:

Phillip Jones, Belize Bus Association

"The main focus or safety issues are tires, windshield, oil leak and seats so if your machine is not leaking, your transmission is not leaking your tires are up to standard and you take your fire extinguisher, your spare etc so those are just basic things, not threatening things that won't be able for you to continue your service. We have been working very hard along with the members to have them come up to standard and all the operators at the meeting said they did their inspection and they passed the inspection so that was the reason why they had received a letter that they would be receiving their permits."
