The Minister also met with representatives of Taiwanese manufacturers to be able to source the new fleet of Electric Busses. They have been looking on the market to be able to bring 5 buses minimum per month starting in September to be able to change out the fleet.

Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Transport

"Right so we you know over the past three four months we have been doing our research on potential suppliers of buses there are two operators two manufacturers from Taiwan that have made now two trips to Belize looking carefully at the market at the unique characteristics of where our terminals are and the terrain and so forth and so we continue to have that discussion with them and that is what we're doing we we're ensuring that we have all the information to make a decision when we put out our tender. Hopefully that should be by by May right by by the end of May and then we decide on who will be manufacturing these electric buses for us."

The first set of EV Buses on the highways were donated in August 2025. Multiple reports this morning told us that one of them reached the Central Terminal this morning and could not get the reverse gear to work.
