And while cruise tourism should have increasing future prospects, overnight tourism had a good month of March. The Minister of Culture said the sites got many visits:

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs

"So far, fortunately, we have to keep our fingers crossed but so far we have not seen any direct impact on visitors to Belize and certainly not to our archeological reserves. In fact, the numbers have been growing we had a strong turnout over Easter, visits to our archeological reserves-we have 14 of them across the country-so we hope, we hope that again the war ends quickly. We hope the cost of fuel goes down it stabilizes because that will certainly have a long-term effect on tourism the cost of travel and everything else so we hope so."
