And in terms of maintaining those numbers and improving visitor experience Perez was also asked if he supports the idea of a bus run to and from the international airport.

Nope, public transport is a fixture of airports worldwide, but in this little jewel, things are often different.

He says we are just not there as yet:

Efren Perez, President, BTIA
"Im not sure if there has been any conversations on that level but certainly I think that when we look at the mobility of travelers certainly you see countries implementing trains systems that connect directly to the airport to the cities, I think Belize is in a position right now infrastructure wise that we need to start to develop not only the highways but also look at the mobility of how travelers move from point A to point B so I really do commend the ministry of transport in terms of really looking at the entire bus system in Belize because it is no secret that some of the buses that we have are not up to certain standard so elevating that to a certain level certainly will benefit not only the locals but also the travelers who may want to come to Belize City and go explore Corozal for example but they want to have that comfort you know and so those are very significant and through BTIA we are very much committed in terms of working with the public sector in all the areas as possible to look at how we can continue to enhance that guest experience."
