Notorious \"Badman\" Rosado Roque Killed

He's known as the baddest of the bad men in Belize City, but Roque Rosado is a memory tonight after he was shot and killed this weekend. After 2:00a.m. on Sunday morning, Rosado and 5 others broke into the second floor of 88 Shopping Center at the corner of Neal's Pen Road and Central American Boulevard. The upper floor is a residence and they held up a Chinese man and woman, taped them up with duct tape and robbed them. Two more residents arrived and they were held up, but one of them slipped away. When Rosado caught up with him in the living room there was an exchange of gunfire. Rosado was shot to the back of the head, while Yan Pei Yang was shot to the shoulder, chest, leg, and hip. He is at Belize Medical Associates recovering while Rosado is in the morgue awaiting a post mortem. The 22 year old Rosado had a spectacular criminal history dating back to a drug possession charge in 1996. From that first arrest at 16, he emerged as one of the most prolific criminals the city has seen, and today his rap sheet shows 43 prior arrests and 8 convictions. He has been charged twice for murder, and his charges include close to half for robbery and burglary, along with others for conspiracy to commit murder, possession of un-licensed ammunition, aggravated assault, attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm. He was sentenced to 5 years in the year 2000, but that was reversed on appeal. His most recent appearance came three weeks ago on June 26th. Police believe that Rosado is the leader of a robbery crew that targets places such as 88 Shopping Center, which are believed to have safes with a lot of money. Police have detained three persons who they believe are members of this crew and are looking for two others.
