The scandal may have subsided but it seems the temptation is just too great and irregularities continue to surface at the immigration department.
One month ago, police arrested two officers for shaking down visitors at the western border, and now director, Peter Parchue has had to suspend his own daughter, after allegations of wrongdoing surfaced. Director Parchue yesterday wrote to April Parchue informing her that she was being relieved of her post of cashier after her boss, senior immigration officer Horace Guzman alleged that she had misappropriated money.
According to our reports, April Parchue is accused of making out receipts and falsifying the duplicates in at least three instances dating back to November. The discrepancy has amounted to a combined total of at least $1,500. All three cases we have learned of involved foreigners applying for visa extensions.
New to the pubic service, April Parchue was hired as a data entry operator and was placed in the post of cashier in November of last year.
We were unable to reach director Peter Parchue for comment this evening.
