1,000-Foot Falls Goes National

It's one of the most spectacular locations in Belize and today the 1,000-foot falls was declared a national monument.

In September 2000 the government acquired the 1,291 acres of land surrounding the falls from private owners. Today the full vision contained in the buyback scheme was realized and Minister of Natural Resources John Briceno spoke of the importance of protecting natural resources.

Briceno also unveiled the Pine Ridge visitor use master plan developed by a landscape architect.
