Police interceding in a bar fight on Saturday night had to contend with wanton disorder in Bella Vista Village.
Independence police responded to a call from Corado Bar in that Southern village where they saw 19 year old Jeremy Turcios behaving in a disorderly fashion. As a police officer Chiac approached him Turcios struck the officer with the bottle above the left eye. Other officers then attempted to detain Turcios but several other persons at the bar began hurling objects at the police. Two other officers interceded and they too were met with the same violence leading one of the lawmen to draw his service revolver and shoot Turcios in the foot. Both Turcios and officer Chiac were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where they were treated.
Turcios has since been charged for wounding, resisting arrest, obstruction, throwing missiles and disorderly conduct.
