On Tuesday, Justice John Gonzalez warned Prosecutor Carlo Mason that he'd better be ready with the Jason "Soup" Williams case for today or it would be thrown out. Well, the case wasn't ready, but Justice Gonzalez didn't have to throw it out, Mason did it for him when he today entered a no case submission.
Williams had been accused of attempted murder, grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm after allegedly shooting two men near the Lion King Bar in August of 2003. With Mason's no case submission, Justice Gonzalez told Williams he was now clear of those charges.
But his freedom was short lived; because police were waiting outside to re-arrest Williams. That's right, as he got out of the courtroom, he was arrested for the murder of Mark "Ratta" Henry. A surprising move, because when 'Ratta' was killed in April of 2002, 'Soup' Williams was charged and 13 months later in May of 2003, he was cleared of the charge of manslaughter when the prosecutor again had no case to present. But under the instruction of the DPP, police have re-charged Williams for the 'Ratta' Henry murder and he will again be remanded.
Dating back to the 2001 killing of Clay Monsanto's infant child for which he was also accused, 'Soup' Williams has been under nearly constant remand for three years without ever being convicted. His sister Evalee Cadle says that having her 26-year-old brother live through this judicial abuse is unjust and intolerable.

"They arrested him for that case which happened in front of Lion King in 2003. But they know to their heart that Soup didn't do that. They are trying to arrest any dread man but all dread men don't look alike. Look at this now today: they are saying they are re-arresting him again for the Mark Henry case. Why? It already happened."
"They arrested today for murder! What kind of simpleness (sic) is that? That is just stupid. Things like this cause people to get frustrated. He is not doing anything out here. He is keeping calm with his family. The system is not fair. He is already in the black book as far as the police are concerned. He is in the black book so now they want him to get lost behind jail."
Jason 'Soup' Williams will be arraigned for murder sometime tomorrow.
