Prosecutors continue to fail in court as another accused killer has gotten off murder charges.

Today Kareem Molina and Louis Gillett, the two men accused of the murder of well-known grocer Alvin Godfrey appeared in Magistrate's Court. It was expected to be just a procedural adjournment, but Chief Prosecutor Jacqueline Willoughby surprised court observers when she withdrew charges of murder against Molina. She explained that the case against him couldn't be built up to a successful conviction, which according to our information means police don't have enough evidence to link him to the crime. But while Molina may be off that one he will remain in jail because he is serving time for another case in which he was convicted for damage to property.

Godfrey was shot in his store in April 29, 2003 and on May 8, both Molina and Gillett were charged for dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. But that attempted murder charge had to be upgraded after Godfrey succumbed to his injuries on June 5th, 2003. Now the murder charge against Gillett stands and his murder trial is expected to go to the Supreme Court sometime this year.
