It's not quite as juicy as the talk of U.S. $1.5 million at the Miami airport, but Belizean authorities have nabbed a money launderer albeit of a much lower grade.

At around 11:30 yesterday morning Murat Kalender was at the Philip Goldson International Airport when X-ray machines at the pre-board checkpoint detected a large amount of U.S. currency in his luggage. He was detained and the amount of cash was determined to be U.S. $16,094. With that he was handed over to police who was arrested and charged with attempting to leave Belize with more than $10,000 without first reporting the money. This afternoon they charged the 32 year Kalender who was offered and met bail.
