A Belize city mother is asking the police for help after her son was knocked down on Friday. 27 year old John Conorquie was walking along the western highway and crossing over into Belize Waste Control when he was hit by an oncoming car. The massive impact sent him into the air, and when he landed his right leg was crushed. Later, doctors had to take him into emergency surgery when they discovered that he had a broken pelvis had ruptured his bladder. All this, but his mother Maude Conorquie complains that no one has been charged:

Maude Conorquie - Mother of accident victim
"His bladder is punctured his foot is mashed up and I feel pain for my child so I want them to do something about it. But nothing has been announced and I want to see something further is done about it. According to what I see nothing is going to happen because nobody is moving and time is going. If they say my son is in the wrong I just want justice for my child because he was hurt bad. If they say it and he is in the wrong I just want the owner of the vehicle to give me justice because he is broken up. He can't help himself. According to what I understand from my other son; he was walking and going to cross when the man came with a lot of speed and hit him from behind."

So far police continue to investigate, a process which is being slowed, because it appears that Conorquie may have been crossing the road into the rush of oncoming traffic.
