What neighbors say was a fiery love triangle almost came to a fiery end in a Belize City neighborhood early this morning.

At 3 this morning Doris Zapata and Lillian Lopez were sleeping in their house which is in an alley just off of Vernon Street when someone padlocked the door from outside and set their building on fire. The two women were awakened by the blaze when they made frantic calls for help. A police officer posted at a nearby 24-hour police booth responded.

Neighbors tell 7NEWS the two women had to be evacuated through the back windows of the house since the door was locked from outside. Police say they believe it was arson and they are investigating to determine who might have had a reason to set the blaze. Neighbors say the two women moved into the area about three months ago.
