The CARICOM Single Market and Economy: it is no longer an "if" but more like a "when" which is why the Youth for the Future's Governance Unit is this evening holding a forum on its inevitability. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Immigration and Nationality Department will give presentations to the parents, school administrators, and most importantly the youth stakeholders who are expected to attend. This evening's discussion will be led by CARICOM Youth Ambassador Ulysses Augustine Jr. who says everyone, especially youths, should be aware of the implications of the CSME.

It will affect them. This is something that they need to know and actually need to be educated about because then your job is in stake and my job is in stake because the only way you can know what will be happening when actually Belize is joined in 2005 the Caribbean single market and economy. We know that government is majority three-fourths and that is the amount of votes needed to pass that bill so my presentation would be geared towards giving young people the actual thinking capacity of what the CARICOM Single Market and Economy is."

Joseph Card, Youth Governance Coordinator
"We want to get the young people out to dialog on this issue called the CARICOM Single Market and Economy system. A lot of people don't understand that as of 2005 Belize will have to be ready to be a part of this regional system so we better be able to fight in the globalization that presently exists. So we want to do our part to educate young people and have them more aware of what's happening because of course we know that there are the ones who will take the rein of this country in the next few years."

The youth forum began at 5 pm.
