A Guatemalan man is in the Belmopan hospital under police guard awaiting charges of robbery and aggravated assault. Yesterday police officers shot the 55-year-old while investigating a robbery last Saturday at Sibun Farm which is near St. Margaret's village on the Hummingbird Highway.
A worker on the farm reported that around 7 Saturday night a group of employees were inside the farmhouse when three masked men with guns stormed in. The bandits then robbed the employees of their money, jewelry, and other personal belongings. Belmopan police investigations in the armed robbery led them to Armenia village where while approaching the suspect, police claim they saw him reaching into his waist as if he was pulling out a gun and so they fired off a shot hitting him in the right leg. That suspect is in the hospital recovering from that bullet wound to the leg while police say on the scene they recovered an unlicensed.38 revolver loaded with 6 live rounds of ammunition.
