He went to bring in the New Year's at the Princess Hotel and Casino, but instead he claims he was viciously beaten until he was unconscious by the hotel's chief executive director along with a gang of security guards. Tonight one week after the beat-down, Eder Alamilla and his brother Giovanni are telling their story. 22-year-old Eder says he was along with his girlfriend inside the Princess on New Year's Eve at their new "Charisma" nightclub. He claims they left the club and when they tried to re-enter around 3 am, the manager refused them re-entry because his girlfriend did not have on her shoes. Alamilla's story is that he didn't resist and simply decided to leave and that's when, he claims, he was attacked by the Hotel's Chief Executive Director Merc Bolukbasi.
Eder Alamilla, Alleged Beating Victim
"I told my girlfriend basically if they are going to disrespect us like this we don't need to patronize this establishment, 'let's go home.'"
Keith Swift,
So you were walking out the Princess and heading towards the doors, the automatic doors, and you are saying that he attacked you?
Eder Alamilla,
"You have to keep in mind that this is the new club that they just renovated so this is the bowling alley area. We are not by the sliding doors yet, we are by the bathrooms; the entrance by the bathrooms."
Keith Swift,
And he runs behind you and?
Eder Alamilla,
"Punches me in my face."
Keith Swift,
What happened next?
Eder Alamilla,
"We scuffled, we fight, and the security...I think that's when they noticed it and they attacked me and beat me unconscious and that's basically it on my part. That's what happened to me."
Keith Swift,
How many security?
Eder Alamilla,
"I remember 5 of them but I was later informed that there was 12 to 14 different security guards."
Keith Swift,
Did they attack you with their hands?
Eder Alamilla,
"They were kicking and punching me in my face. Basically the swelling has gone down but I have 5 fractures on my face. From here to here basically and my eye was swollen shut."
Giovanni Alamilla, Brother/Alleged Beating Victim
"I saw him basically laid out on the ground and the manager on top of him just punching him in his face and the security guards around just kicking him. And I mean being that it is my brother, I just ran over there and grabbed the person that was on top of him and started fighting with him. The security guards then jumped on me and after a couple minutes they stopped and went back to him and he was just laid out. When I bent down and tried to pick him up, that's when I looked up and the security guards were coming again. That's when I reached into my pants to pull out my licensed gun 'cause I thought our life was basically in danger and by that time they were too close to me to really do anything. They grabbed onto me with my gun in my hand and somehow I ended up on top of the pool table, laid out, stretched out with the security guard just beating on me. Next thing I know, another manager is above me with a chrome revolver and he just starts hitting me in my face. I ended up getting 4 stitches here and 3 stitches back there. I released my gun when he pointed his gun in my face; at that point I thought 'hey he is going to kill me.'"
Giovanni Alamilla received only cuts and scratches while his brother Eder received 5 fractures. He spent most of the week at Universal Hospital and will tomorrow head to Chicago for reconstructive surgery. Eder told us he won't graduate from SJC sixth form on time and has to pay thousands in medical bills because of the incident. And as hard as it may be to believe, he maintained to Keith Swift that it was unprovoked.
Eder Alamilla,
"The manager and the security of this establishment don't have any justifiable right to assault me. Their purpose, if they don't believe it but it is true, is to only escort me from this establishment. They don't have the right to beat me."
Keith Swift,
This was New Year's Eve and you were drinking. Could you have had too much to drink?
Eder Alamilla,
"No, no way at all, I know my limit."
Keith Swift,
You initially decided not to file charges because the Princess was going to pay your medical bills. What has changed?
Eder Alamilla,
"Originally they agreed, they accepted, responsibility for their act, for their wrongdoing and they were going to compensate me for my medical expenses that I've already incurred which is approximately $10,000 to date and they said that they would pay for my surgery but they didn't give me any guarantee. Up to today they didn't give me any documentation and nothing to guarantee that they will pay for the costs because that's what I am concerned about. This is a very expensive surgery and we don't have the funds for it so I need assistance. If they are willing to accept their wrongdoing and pay for my surgery I was willing to do that."
Keith Swift,
So if they would pay for your reconstructive surgery then this would be gone?
Eder Alamilla,
"Well no. Honestly it wouldn't have because they needed legal action to be taken against them because this isn't the first incident that I've heard of."
Keith Swift,
Looking back to New Year's Eve and New Year's morning, any different you could have done? Do you think you did anything wrong?
Eder Alamilla,
"I didn't do anything wrong because I was leaving the premises. After they disrespected me and were rude to me I was leaving on my way out. My back was towards to this man. He attacked me for no justifiable reason so therefore I didn't anything wrong. There is no wrongdoing on my behalf."
The Alamilla brothers say they will pursue both criminal and civil charges against the Princess. The Princess Hotel meanwhile maintains that the brothers were improperly dressed and were simply drunk. The hotel's Chief Executive Director Merc Bolukbasi, who the Alamilla boys are implicating directly, says there were over 2,000 people on the compound that night and no one else had problems. He says that the Alamilla brothers went to his office today asking for the Princess to pay his mounting medical bills. Bolukbasi says he refused because he doesn't feel he should have to. He says the money is not the issue, and if they want to take it to the police, then the Princess can also bring charges against Giovanni for carrying a loaded weapon into the Princess.
