A man has been killed near San Lazaro village in Orange Walk and police believe his neighbors might be responsible. The victim is 58-year-old Ramon Flota and at 9:30 this morning his son found him dead in his cane field with a gunshot to the left side of his head. Police investigations are leading them in the direction of two of Flota's neighbors who he's had a long standing and simmering land dispute with. That dispute came to a head recently when the young men of the house, aged 20 and 22 had threatened to kill his family. The suspected duo had also allegedly shot another man in the head knocking out one of his eyes. Since this morning's murder though, they have been missing, presumed to be on the run and there is a manhunt on for the two suspects. Investigators note that Flota was also robbed because his shotgun was missing and his pockets were found turned out. A post mortem showed that not only had he been shot in the head at close range, but he had also been chopped across the head which cracked open his skull.
