Police Detain O/W Rape Suspect

A man has been detained in connection with the rape of a Belize City woman in Orange Walk Town. The victim was rescued by security guards on Thursday after the man who had raped her was circling back to an abandoned cane field where he'd left her. The 28-year-old woman reported to police that she was walking along Main Street in Orange Walk Town on Thursday evening when a man offered her a ride. But instead of taking her where she requested, he took her into a cane field and raped her. He left here there to walk back into town. But after a short time, she saw him coming back and ran to a pair of security guards for rescue. Police were not able to find him until this morning and he is expected to be charged tomorrow.
