Woman Kills Boyfriend. Self-Defense?

A man is dead and tonight his common-law wife is detained pending charges for his murder. The victim is 43-year-old Sebastian Ortiz who was stabbed fatally to his left thigh around 2:30 this afternoon. Police have his common-law wife 52-year-old Joan Bennett detained for the killing. The incident occurred at the couple's Police Street home where early reports are that they were having a domestic dispute when apparently, and we stress these are early reports, in self-defense she pulled a knife and stabbed him. Police have yet to recover the knife and Bennett remains in police custody at newstime.
