It terms of pure public relations combustion, the Lions Club of Belize may have recently been outmatched by the gloss and machinery of the Rotary Club. But, don't doubt on them, the Lions Club members have been keeping up with their own philanthropic work in their own way. Tomorrow night at the Holy Redeemer Parish Hall, they are hosting a pageant to raise funds for eye surgeries and general community work. 5 contestants will be vying for the title of Miss Lions Belize. Not quite lionesses, the genteel young ladies and their organizer, Miss Birdy said that it's all for a very good cause.
Miss Birdy, Oganizer
"The pageant is not a beauty pageant. It's a pageant for inner-beauty. The young woman who wins this pageant will be an ambassador for the Lions Club and they will go out and show friendship and fellowship among other member Lion Organizations and they will also go out in the community. We are stressing volunteerism and community service as they participate."
General seating at the pageant is $10, and reserved is $20.
