A Mennonite Farmer is on his way to a Chetumal Hospital tonight after he was shot during a robbery this morning in the city. He is 30 year old Cornie Braun who was delivering poultry products on Jasmine Street this morning when he armed gunmen accosted him. He was shot in his leg and the assailants made off with an undisclosed amount of money. His mother Elizabeth Braun traveled in an ambulance from Spanish Lookout and she told us this is the worst news.

Elizabeth Braun, Shooting Victim's Mother
"About 10 o'clock they called and tell me that they shoot him and he is in the hospital."

KS: _We understand that he had two helpers with him.

Elizabeth Braun,
"I didn't know that he had two, I just know that he had one. I think he had two."

KS: _Has he told you what happened?

Elizabeth Braun,
No, not really.

Erne Thiessen, Paramedic from Spanish Lookout
"I have no information from the doctors so far."

KS: _Where are you taking him right now?

Erne Thiessen,
"He is going to Chetumal."

KS: _So he needs an operation on his leg?

Erne Thiessen,
"We'll see what the doctor says there, yeah."

Braun traveled in that BERT ambulance to Chetumal and he should be there tonight. If you are wondering why he is seeking treatment in Chetumal for a gunshot injury, well his family says private hospitals in Belize cost too much. Meanwhile police say they are investigating the robbery.
