A man was found guilty of rape this afternoon in the Supreme Court. The case of Lucio Martinez who was accused of rape on November 29th of 2003 began on Thursday. After just over two hours of deliberation a jury of 5 men and 4 women came out with a guilty verdict.
he victim, a mother of 3 told the court that on the night of November 29th of 2003 she woke up to find Lucio Martinez with two knives: one held to her neck and the other to her side. He raped her and an hour after that, he returned to apologize, claiming that he did not know what he was doing. For his part, Martinez took the stand and denied the allegations, he says he was sleeping with his girlfriend when the incident was reported to have happened. A mitigation plea is now expected on Monday 18th April before sentencing.
