As we reported last night, with the help of 7NEWS, the_ San Pedro Sun_ and the Mayor of San Pedro, Elsa Paz, 26-year-old Edwardo Barahona turned himself in to police in San Pedro. After that, Barahona was transported to Belize City where police say they have sufficient evidence to charge him for the murder of David Vasquez and the attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of dangerous harm on Alvin Cumberbatch. Barahona's family insists that he is innocent, but head of the Crimes Investigation Branch in Belize City Chester Williams is confident that they will charge him for murder.
ASP Chester Williams,
"Sometime around 4 pm Mr. Barahona handed himself over to the San Pedro Police along with other residents of that area, and he was escorted to Belize City this morning. He is being charged at this time. He has been taken to court and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Mr. David Vasquez. He has also been charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and dangerous harm upon Alvin Cumberbatch. We managed to wrap up the investigation yesterday and at this point in time, since he has been charged, we have sufficient evidence to take the matter to court."
Barahona was taken to Magistrate's Court where he was formally charged and remanded to the Hattieville Prison.
