Customs Dept. Investigates Boat Incident

Last night we showed you pictures of a canoe that had been dragged out of the river near the Botes/Santa Cruz border point. Customs officials today indicated to 7NEWS that they are investigating the incident and are trying to ascertain if their officers acted responsibly in the way the situation was dealt with. They say however that the actions taken with the boat go contrary to what officers are trained to do. With regard the officers involved the Department says that witnesses are giving them names of people to have been involved in the incident who were not even in the area conducting patrols. They have since taken the matter to their attorney for further considerations.
