9-Year-Old Boy Suffocates Inside Sand Tunnel

A 9-year-old boy suffocated after he was trapped in a sand tunnel he built yesterday in San Roman Village in Corozal. Its strange but true as police say that the deceased Onix Correa was playing in the pile of sand with his older brother when the tragic death occurred. Apparently the brothers were building tunnels in the sand which was wet. The older brother left 9 year old Onix to play and when he checked back three hours later he found Onix's dead body in one of the narrow tunnels he had built. The child had apparently been trapped and was suffocated.

Police say they don't suspect foul play since there are no signs of violence on the body. A post mortem is scheduled for tomorrow evening.
