The young man accused of choking, stabbing, and then slitting his 16 year old girlfriend's throat, leaving her possibly paralyzed for life, is sitting in jail tonight.

The accused 18-year-old Abdiel Sandoval surrendered to Cayo Police last night. He appeared before a Magistrate in San Ignacio late this evening where he was formally arraigned on charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and maim. Magistrate Linden Flowers denied him bail and remanded Sandoval to the Hattieville Prison until October 13th.

Meanwhile the girl's family is still holding on to hope that she will be able to walk again. Doctors tried to repair some of the damage to her spinal cord in a surgery last night. Her spinal cord was damaged during a three-hour ordeal with Sandoval when he allegedly attacked and brutally stabbed her with a bread knife after she tried to break up with him.

The teens had been dating for two years. Sandoval attends Sacred Heart College while the girl is presently missing the second week of second form classes at Mopan Technical in Benque.
