Tonight the Ministry of Health has sounded an alarm about a possible case of the deadly mild dengue hemorrhagic fever in the Cayo District. Information from the Ministry of Health is that while blood samples have been sent to the Mexico for confirmation, initial tests results satisfy World Health Organization standards. The good news is that they believe the person caught the deadly strain of dengue outside of Belize since the person traveled there two weeks prior to becoming infected.

The Director of Health Services is advising the public to once again destroy all potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which include buckets, tires, drums, and any other container that collects standing water. A suspected dengue related death last week turned out to be a false alarm as tests revealed that the 10-year-old Hattieville resident died of something other than dengue.
