He was knocked down yesterday and today 5-year-old Dixon Daniel Maroquinn Gonzalez died from those injuries at the KHMH.
While details were sketchy last night, police now say that the little boy is a Guatemalan national and resident of Melchor and he was knocked down by 25-year-old John Paul Hales. He told police that he was driving his white Toyota van eastbound on the Western Highway when upon reaching near Habet's Block Factory he saw little Daniel try to run across the street. Hales claims he tried but couldn't avoid hitting Daniel. The boy was taken first to the San Ignacio Hospital and later to the KHMH where he died this morning. We note that yesterday Hale was at the KHMH with the boy's mother. Police say the case has been forward to the DPP for his consideration.
